Hoosier Water Away is Anthony Piatt, his daughter Mareana, and a small crew that has been putting drainage pipe in Indiana ground since February 2016. We are not a franchise, and we do not send subcontractors to your house.
How this started
A trade Anthony learned before he named the company
Hoosier Water Away opened its doors on February 9, 2016. Anthony Piatt owns it and still runs the crew himself. His daughter Mareana Piatt runs the office, answers the phone and keeps the schedule straight.
The company has stayed small on purpose. There is no call center reading a script and no subcontractor showing up in an unmarked truck. The person who walks your yard and writes your quote is the same person who will be standing in your trench a few weeks later.
What we believe
Two rules that have not changed since 2016
"We pride ourselves in not using heavy equipment and placing your grass back to where it was wherever we dig."
That is Anthony's own description of the job, and it is the reason the company exists. A skid steer or a trencher gets the pipe in the ground faster, but it leaves ruts, compacted soil and a landscaping bill behind. Shovels, mattocks and wheelbarrows take longer. They also leave a yard you can mow the same season.

Every job, whether it is a single downspout extension or a full perimeter system, gets judged by one question: does the water actually leave the property now. Not patched, not slowed down, moved.

How we work
What actually happens when you call us
We answer new messages in about 30 minutes during business hours, Monday through Friday 9am to 7pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm. From there we schedule a free on-site visit. Anthony or a crew lead walks the yard, watches where water actually goes, and checks the fall with a level.
You get a fixed written quote for a defined scope, not a range read off over the phone. Half the quoted price holds your spot on the schedule and covers materials. The balance is due when the job is finished and you have walked it with us.
We do not offer financing. What we do offer is 10% off for past customers and for anyone a past customer sends our way. Tell us who referred you when you call.
If a job is bigger than we can fit this month, we will say so up front rather than stack you behind six other customers and let the schedule slip.

Where we run from
Three bases: Kokomo, Indianapolis, Bloomington
We work out of three points in the state, which keeps drive time reasonable for most of central and southern Indiana. Kokomo is home base. Indianapolis and Bloomington crews cover the metro and the towns south of it.
Weather does not stop the work. The crew still shows up in winter, moving stone by wheelbarrow when the ground is frozen and the schedule allows it.
